Paul Walker

You may have seen in my previous post or tweets, that I went to the crash site. It was all blocked off and the car was still there when we went on Saturday. We decided to go back again so that we could bring some flowers. Since it was a Monday afternoon, I didn't expect many people to be there. Wrong, the streets were packed, news crews were everywhere, and the memorial was growing. I laid a bouquet of roses down for him next to hundreds of other flowers, candles, gifts, hand made messages and pictures for Paul and Roger.

There were so many people there, coming and going, but it was so quiet. There were messages written and posters made saying "you are my favorite actor and I will miss you" and many other heartfelt messages. Some people left little HotWheels, some left car parts such as mufflers and even a container of NOS. One kid left a balloon of the Disney movie CARS. So precious.

The not so precious parts were seeing the skid mark on the side of the curb where they obviously had hit. Which was also in front of the tree that was broken in half, which was next to the tree that was burned up, where the car landed. (The light post that had been knocked down was removed). All the trees had messages written on them. I found some space on the tree that was broken in half and simply wrote:

"Running Scared will never be the same again <3"

That is my favorite Paul movie, and one of my favorite movies of all time. It's truly an incredible movie and it is so underrated. I highly suggest that you watch it, you will never regret it.

I feel so bad for his daughter, family, friends, co-workers, everyone in his life. I don't care what his quote says that everyone is posting everywhere, this was a shitty way to die. And I can't imagine anything worse.

Rest in peace Paul and Roger.

[update] Just read that Vin Diesel showed up last night, used the loudspeaker of a cop car and said:

"If he could see for himself that all of you have showed up to show my brother love at this hard time, and the family gets to see all of you show the love that you've shown Paul, it's going to stay with me forever. I just wanted to say thank you, thank you for coming down here and showing that angel up in heaven how much you appreciated him."

  1. This was extremely sad news, I honestly couldn't believe it when I heard about it. I would like to visit the site (sadly im far far away) even though it would be overwhelming sadness. Of course I didn't know him but I can't help but think of the pain the ones who did are in right now. RIP. He was actually one of my first crushes so I always had a soft spot for Mr. Walker! RIP.

  6. You're right, it is a shitty way to die. I guess the optimist in me just wanted to think of the positive and celebrate his life and I was one of those who posted that quote.

I wish I could go to the site and I'm glad to see that you were able to and pay your respects. Running Scared is an amazing movie! I need to buy it and add it to my collection.

  23. It was heartbreaking to hear about this on Saturday. Its amazing all the great things that you hear about him, it seems like all the celebrities these days all the bad stuff comes out after the pass. He seems to have truly been a good person.

  24. Love me some Toretto and O'Conner. It's absolutely heartbreaking. I just posted about it. It took me a few days to get it together without wanting to cry for an hour.

This just made me tear up. I wrote a post about him too. He was hands down my favorite actor and I LOVED running scared. I wish I could go to the crash site, but that would require hopping on a plane and I just can't do that right now. These pictures are beautiful, seeing how many people loved him is just amazing. I have never cried over the death of an actor and I have bawled like a baby several times over here. It's just heartbreaking. Rip Paul Walker & Roger. :(
