I Pick Things Up And Put Them Down

I've been trying to be straight up beast mode at the gym lately. My favorite work out is boxing and battle ropes. To me, everything else is boring. Treadmills, elliptical, and even lifting (which I love)... it's all boring. But the moment I pick up those ropes or put on those gloves, I'M READY. Since I started the ropes and boxing, I've been able to lift more, sooner than I thought. RAWR!

And my music keeps me going.

I probably have the most "pop" gym playlist ever. I mean, it's like 75% Britney, duh. Then Miley and Kesha and then like 1% others. I'm constantly adding and removing, so I will gladly take on any suggestions! That's really the gist of this post... gimme more gym songs. No really, I basically have nothing to write about, I'm just daydreaming about my new boxing gloves coming in the mail today and I can't wait to get out of work and beast it at the gym. GIMME SONGS. please and thank you.

Actually I do have something to share. Some tips. It's January, tons of people sign up for a gym membership. Here's a few pointers......

1. Don't skip leg day. Like, ever. THERE IS A REAL LIFE GUY LIKE THIS AT MY GYM.  His upper body is enormous and I only ever see him do upper body work outs. I'll try to instagram a pic. Because I don't care. Not my fault he's that guy.

2. Ask for help. No seriously, do not be ashamed. You could get very hurt if you don't know what you're doing. So many of those machines are a total mind fuck, ask someone for help.

3. Time your pre-workout drink. I'm actually still trying to get this down. Since I'm so petite, mine kicks in very very fast. Like moments after I start drinking it. And I'm still like "we can't leave yet I need time for my drink to kick in!" False. We get in the car and I'm like "I'M SO TINGLY HURRY UP AND GET THERE I NEED TO MOVE AROUND AND LIFT! MY FACE IS TINGLING! NOW MY EARS ARE AND MY HANDS. HURRY UP!"

4. Hold your fart and run to the bathroom. No crop dusting allowed!

If you're new to the gym world, I hope these lil pointers are a big help. Good luck!

  1. haha love your gym tips! at my old gym I was somehow always on the elliptical next to a farter. gross. love the photo of the dude laying down on that leg machine. ahhhh. as for songs some of my faves are: timber - pitbull/kesha (duh), b.o.b. - outkast (it is soooo fast, love it), misery business - paramore, filthy/gorgeous - scissor sisters, low - flo rida. i'm an old lady so some of these are pretty old but I like them.

  2. The pre-workout drink.... that is probably the most hysterical one. I workout at home so I can workout as soon as it kicks in. LOL♥

  3. OMFG THIS IS SO FUNNY! we joke about "pre-ing" all the time at work so when someone is all jacked and we don't know why, we say "did you pre, bro?" and then laugh our asses off.

this is why i workout at home - i can fart when i need to and no one will judge me. and my friend send me this youtube hilarity of 'gym stereotypes'. i'm not ashamed to admit im the "mirror magnet". LOL http://youtu.be/nU4EJfX2aXE

  4. What on earth is this pre-workout drink you speak of and why the heck does it sound a lot like when people on reality shows explain different.... err.... "trips" they've had before? Sounds fun.

I can't stop giggling over the fart one. Ugh!

Years ago when I went to the gym, I used to use the calf machine it was my favorite. Calf raises are always my favorite. Well I recall two guys walking by and commenting that I had amazing calves. Um, thanks? Odd compliment, then I saw their calves.. eek! They didn't really have them. Sorry fellas, mine were built through dance and then cultivated through leg days, son!

  8. The pre-workout is hilarious! The farter and the heavily perfume are totally annoying. For music I am more of the rock side but check out Adelita's Way, Breaking Benjamin, and Bullet For My Valentine they are kinda on the level of Drowning Pool so you may like them.

  11. I always have Pit bull on my playlist. :) He gets me moving!

I want to know how to work more of the machines but that area is always crowded by the muscle dudes who stay on the same one for like an hour.

  12. "i gotta mow" hahaha. omg when he fell trying to talk to that girl! i die. I HATE THE SCREAMERS! they're so annoying.there's a guy at my gym that skips and turns on the treadmill while he's running, he also takes up the boxing space spinning and kicking the bag. i hate that guy. show off.

  13. haha! it gives you energy, endurance, muscle pumps, basically just gets you all jacked up to have a beast workout.

  14. hahaha SON! it's such a huge gym humor joke you would think that by now NO guys would skip leg day.

  17. i'll admit that if i didn't work out with my bf, i wouldn't be over in that area. even though my gym actually has a good amount of females over there. i was an elliptical only girl until we started going together.

  19. I'm such a weirdo. This playlist is awesome, but I can't listen to music when I work out. I will stop working out, and start dancing. It's the former dancer in me. I don't go to the gym for the very reason outlined in the memes. I have NO clue what I'm doing. I need a trainer to yell at me and tell me exactly what to do. I'm going to start with letting Jillian yell at me in my living room while I save up for a real live person. I want some muscles dammit.

  20. Haha I couldn't stop laughing while reading this list. The gym is so packed with all the newbies right now and you can just see them wondering around trying to act like they know what they are doing. Just ask for help already! And ya I have so been there with the pre workout, nothing like tweaking out before your in the gym:)

  21. bah the fart one. classic.

  22. I have totally seen those people with huge upper bodies and tiny legs. You'd think their legs would be jacked from carrying all that upper muscle around!

    ReplyDelete
  23. NO crop dusting? Fuck it. That just sealed the deal. I'm never stepping foot in a gym.
